16th Bermondsey Scouts are an incredibly mixed bunch of about 50 girls and boys aged 6-18 who meet weekly in a Methodist Church hall but who love to go camping and canoeing together and cooking really tasty sausages over smokey wood-fires when-ever they can!
Our Scout Group comprises of 4 age groups; Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and Explorers from a huge mix of ethnic backgrounds led by nearly 20 volunteers. Some Leaders leaders were originally parents of members who have lived in the area for a long time, while others are ‘young professional people’ working locally and in the City of London. We also have fully trained teenage members as helping as Young Leaders.
We work in partnership with Manor Methodist Church on a license agreement with access to a small garden where we play, cook on woodfires and practice outdoor and camping skills.
We are supported in our activities by Methodist South London Mission, Southwark Cathedral, Newcomen Collett Foundation, St.Olaves & St.Saviours’ Grammar School Foundation, United St.Saviour’s Charity and Southwark Council. Without their generous help we could never provide local kids with safe fun and adventure. Thankyou!
